"The very meaninglessness of life forces man to create his own meaning...The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent, but if we can come to terms with this indifference, then our existence as a species can have genuine meaning. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light." ~ Stanley Kubrick
"True descendants of Prometheus, science writers take the fire from the scientific Olympus, the laboratories and the universities, and bring it down to the people." ~ William L. Laurence
"We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology." ~ Carl Sagan
"It is our duty not least to help create a world in which despair and cynicism are complemented and partly replaced, not by optimism, but by a courage and by hope." ~ J. Robert Oppenheimer
